I started out on clarinet in grade school as a kid......a couple of
years ago(Im 40)....I started playing the alto sax.....I LOVE it!But
I cant seem to get a real jazz sound out of it.I have two
mouthpieces
that I use.One is a Bobby Dukoff metal mouth piece....the
facing of it is a D6. My other mouthpiece is a Selmer S80 C*.I use a
Rovner ligature on both of them. I am playing on Vandoren java 2 1/2
reeds.Am I playing on too soft of a reed? I love the brightness I
get from my metal mouthpiece. But not sure it has a real jazz sound
too it.Can anyone offer some advice or some suggestions?

sincerely,

wanting to sound jazzy

Mark
