Hi all
Good to hear from you again after a few weeks gap.
I'm 18 months into playing the alto now under Slim's tuition and I've
just been inspired to buy a soprano. More challenging on the chops but,
after a few problems, it's now sounding much better. I'm now moving into
some jazz pieces on both horns with simple but mostly (sometimes??)
melodic improvisation - great fun! Having a weekly meeting with Slim
makes all the difference, especially at my stage of development.
I've not heard of Clarence Clemens but I'm a bit narrow on my listening
habits - virtually all jazz.
The stuff about Sibelius is interesting, not to mention the growls.
Keep up the chat. I'm keen to learn.

learners that were out there??one year on I am still unable to find a
teacher,my lip still gets sore, on the plus side I can now read music
and my brain and hands can keep pace whilst playing a slow ballad, I
marvel at some of the younger ones. your energy and you are all so
positive and keen.

player called Clarence Clemons on a CD and I really enjoyed he
rock/pop playing. can any one tell me how he gets that rattling
growling sound?

are doing
