Re: [The Saxophone Club] Alto sax

Alto, more of them, cheaper, smaller, easier to handle, doesn't take as much
lung power. Same fingerings as the tenor...so all skills on the alto easily
transferrable to other sax instruments. Soprano embuchere is more
difficult...alto all around the best starting instrument----- Original Message

> Hi to everyone in the group. Just to pick up on the older mature members
thread from last week. I am 43 years old and only picked up an alto 6 months
ago, a relatively cheap little number and is just something to use to ensure
I can get my head around reading music until I purchase something, lets say,
a little more expensive. As a person who never studied music as a child all
I can say is that when I do manage to string some notes together it makes
the hair on my neck stand up, and all I can say is how much I admire the top
musicians who make the sax sing. I would like to start a bit of a debate
amongst you all by asking,"if money were no object what would be the best
contemporary alto sax that money could buy?" When I say best I mean in build
quality, playability, value for money and most importantly sound. I look
forward to reading your replies.
