Please keep us informed as to your progress. Commercial vertical antennas, even of the cheapest construction, cost an exorbitant amount of cash, so anything that can be home-built is a bonus..

They make excellent vertical antennas if you thread a lenth of 'Flexiweave' cable up the middle, connect the end to a Pl259 socket at the bottom and a 10M loose wire soldered to the earthing ring,to act as a radial. The whole thing packs away if needed very simply.
