Inverted L antenna   Message List

Hi folks,

I have had a go with the helical - I'm not sure if it's my particular qth, or
how I had it mounted (in the trees), I had trouble trying to get it to resonate,
even with a couple of radials.

I've had more success with my attempt at a GM0ONX trapped 'Inverted L' antenna
here:-

http://www.users.icscotland.net/~len.paget/6_band_inverted_l_antenna.htm

I have a weatherproof box where the coax enters, in here connection to the
radiating element and to a grounding rod with a couple of long radials run down
a large bank at one side of the house.

The radiating element is suspended from trees at one side of the house.

I'll often have a listen through the band, but mostly tx on data-modes (PSK) -
will have to drop in for a chat sometime!!

Regards

Matty

... Hi Matty, sorry you didn't have much luck with a helical antenna. I guess this is proof that an antenna that works okay at one location, will not work okay...
