Re: [Tropical Aquaria] FAO Steve54539

Hi Steve,
awesome info thanks well the chap i got them from wasnt to sure
about species, but i have kept both before, unfortunately i lost 1
fish out of the horde however the others seem to holding their own.
My intention is to remove some of the smaller ones and place them in
my CommunityTank so they are not bullied by the larger ones, the
sizes vary from 2.5 cm to the 10cm monsters, i have tried to take
some pics of them but they are a bit camera shy lol, will post to
group what pics i have including pics i took of deceased one,
Not sure what the cause was, but the abdomen looked distended, and
possibly the shock of being netted and transported acclerated the
condition,
As I said the others are settling and actively looking for foodand
just generally swimming around
Thanks
Andy

crosses, but it's more likely that they are convict/sajica crosses,
these will show strong barring and dark throats. Convicts, sajicas
and spilurums are all very closely related as they are of the same
family. When young they are very hard to tell apart. As they grow
sajicas will show bright jade green eyes, spilurums eyes are blue
with males growing very definate humps. All these fish are quite
sociable and are best kept in small shoals if the tank is big
enough. When very young they need plenty of space as they are very
easily 'stunted'. All these fish are also prolific breeders, so you
have been warned!!! :-)
