Re: [Tropical Aquaria] Hello

Hi and welcome to the group, yes, fish-keeping has changed a lot in the last 30
years, although the basics remain the same. but the technology has blossomed.
Have you noticed (as I have) that what used to be rare and expensive fish are
now quite cheap and readily available, but some of the old species seem to have
gone? Added to this there are now many 'instant aquariums' on sale. I suppose
it's all a good thing as it brings more people to the hobby.
Sounds like a nice settled aquarium you have at present. Pity about the angel
though, one small word of caution though, Angels are cichlids, though very
pretty ones, and as they grow they can become quite territorial and aggressive
to small fish, particularly tetras, so keep an eye on it. As for what appears to
be small holes in the fish not too sure what this could be, but as long as it
does not appear to be infected or causing stress to the fish I shouldn't worry
too much.
Regards
Steve

Hi All,

I am a new member, found the group whilst searching what to do if my
water tempurature goes very high in the predicted heat wave next week
and was relieved to see this question answered.

I have a 35 Gallon tank, containing 1 Angel (its mate died recently)
several Tetras, 3 plecs including one baby which was hatched in the
tank recently 4 adult platies and 5 babies recently born, 2 Corys and
2 mollies.

My Angel has had what looked to me to be whitespot, and I have carried
out 3 lots of treatment, (raised temp. to 26 and removed carbon)it now
looks as though there are white holes at the base of the dorsal fin on
both sides of the fish, can anyone advise me on this please?

I have only had this tank since last October, it was 30 years since I
last owned a tank and fish keeping has changed a lot since then!!!
