Re: [Tropical Aquaria] Japonica shrimp vs bottom feeders

Thanks Steve, I'll do some reading on them. Need to check if the other fish I
want to get will grow large enough to eat them or not...

Interesting tank inhabitants, they should be OK, just make sure nothing in the
tank is big enough to eat them! It would seem that they prefer to be kept in a
group, say 6 to 10 or more if the tank is big enough. They are prolific breeders
but some people seem to find it hard to raise the larvae to adulthood. There is
plenty of info on these shrimps online.

Hi, I went to the fish shop yesterday and saw these cool looking
Japonica shrimp, and I'm wondering if I can stock a few of those
cute fellas in the tank instead of a bottom feeder, for algae
control and waste recycling? They were wandering round the gravel
and seemed to be eating whatever waste was on the bottom, and I much
prefer these guys to the generally ugly looknig bottom feeders?
Thanks for any advice
Lee
