Thanks Steve for your advice. I haven't added any more fish since I
changed the gravel....I (unfortunately) did just scoop out the old
gravel but didn't clean the filter so some of the old bacteria will
still be there. i thouroughly cleaned the gravel for about half an
hour until the water ran clear then treated the gravel and remaining
water with aqua plus. the cloudiness had gone away a while ago,
which is why i'm baffled about still losing fish.
is it really okay not to feed the fish for a week???!! will the fry
be okay with this? (i have fry food for them). some fry are about
a month old (but still small) other fry are about 1 week.
to answer nim: this particular tank is a small 2ft by 1ft by 1ft;
it has a standard fluval 3 i think which came with the tank (which
is a year old). i use aqua plus to treat the water, i also used a
filter aid and a treatment for setting up new tanks (it adds good
bacteria).
