Re: [Tropical Aquaria] pim pictus

Hi and welcome to the group. As far as I know there are no external differences
between the sexes in this species and they have not been recorded as having bred
in captivity. Make sure the fish are not kept with small 'Neon Tetra' sized fish
as they will eat them as they get bigger. And look out for the spine on the
dorsal fin it is capable of piercing the skin and can cause an allergic reaction
in some people.
Regards
Steve

hi there i have recently brought two pim pictus from a garden center
yhe person that sold me them couldnt tell me if i had 2 males or two
females or one of each
i was wondering if any one had a sure fire way to tell what sex they
are, ie like the shape of fins etc. and also does any one have any
pics of a cat fish whilst they are carrying eggs as i think i might
have a female which is carrying the other i belive is too young to be
carrying.
many thanks wes
