trying to find tha right reptile

Hi Alex,

Have to agree with Clem, a leopard gecko is your best bet. The most obvious
thing that fits your criteria is a uromastyx although eyed lizards could
also be a good option. Day geckos are also very colourful, diurnal and will
eat some fruit but are probably not the best starter lizard to be honest.
Beardies are good but if you think they are too big for you Rankin's dragons
are a possibility - similar to beardies but smaller. Water dragons are also
colourful and diurnal but are a similar size to beardies and are active so
need quite large vivs. Anoles do fit your criteria however they are small
and fast and almost impossible to handle so if you want a more 'hands-on'
lizartd they may not be a good idea. As Clem said diurnal lizards need UV
lights so are often more expensive to keep than nocturnal lizards such as
leos. Its up to you in the end really. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Alex, Devon is by far the best place to live! i for one feel
sorry for all the suckers that are unlucky enought to live out side
the clotted cream belt :-)

anyways..........

The shop mark said about is a very good shop indeed (Hello mark!)

I've been thinking about the sort of lizard that would suit you.

veggie and day time lizards are maybe not a good starter lizard.

there legs go bandy and all sorts of trouble can be had, you WILL
NEED very costly UV lighting for day time lizards that will need
changing often. the veggie diet is a hard one for a begginer ,
ICEBURGE LETTUCE can kill! (in the end)

everything points to a UROMASTYX but i dont know if you have a spare
£450 for the lizard and the setup, then theres the vet costs for
worming, the books you will need and so one

OR

Get a LEOPARD GECKO and feed your baby stickinsects to it, they love
um,

Not trying to put you off keeping a lizard, but i really would say a
LEOPARD gecko is your very best bet, yes they do need live food but
so what, just get what you need when you need it, but don't get them
fast smell noisy brown buggers, get the slow fat black ones
(crickets)

hope you find what your looking for.

kind regards clem (aLSO IN SUNNY DEVON by the sea and the moores
with the fields and the wildlife and the quite without all the roads)
