In terms of them being a successor to Joy Division I agree with you
chook - I think there are very clear influences on the band from JD
as well as other British bands around a similar period. However I
fooking adore their album and haven't stopped listening to it since I
bought it about 3 months ago!
Granted, they do wear a lot of black and there are similarities voice
wise but not much else. I saw them at Glastonbury and the music was
absolutely brilliant - emotionally they do alot for me and as for
being hyped by the British music press, I think they deserve some of
it for putting a different slant on the 'new rock revolution' stuff
that's been coming out of NYC lately. They certainly deserve a bit
more hype than those bloody Kings of Leon blokes have been getting -
talk about overrated!!
Anyway that's just what I think!
