Yeah, what Joy Division recorded as Warsaw
definitely showed, I think that they were going to be a
great band. "As You Said" is a very forward looking
track and an interesting indication of the greater use
of synths on "Closer" and as New Order, even if it
sounds quite primitive compared to later
work.<br>Cheers, Jamie
For me it has to be out of "Isolation", "Atmosphere" and "Decades". It's very
difficult to choose between them as they all show Joy Divsion at their very
best.<br>Cheers, Jamie
Or have been for a week, but my life being so
hectic I've only just got round to posting a
message.<br>I'm a massive Joy Division fan, have been for quite a
while, but listening to Closer for the first time really
made them my favourite band. That album changed the
way I listen to music and was the best thing I'd ever
heard. Not only were they a great band musically their
whole message and subject matter had so much relevance
to life, unlike so much else. If anybody wants to
chat about JD, other cool music or life in general
contact me at: jamiemcf80@hotmail
as i suffered horrendously from this awful
condition myself, i know the effects it can have on your
mnetal state, but even thought it affects the sufferer
in many ways, do any of you think the way ian
treated his wife etc was all due to epilepsy or did ian
have a spiteful personality?<br>luv to hear ur views
on this!<br>luv mark xxxxx
my fave lyric would probably have to
be....<br>"scattering flowers washed down by the rain" but i can't

please believe me, i'm doing the best that i can.<br>I'm
ashamed of the things i've been put through, i'm ashamed
of the person i am."<br><br>lyrical genius from Ian

...You people are all crazy, but hello anyway.
Which Joy Division album do you lot prefer? I like
Unknown Pleasures... Can you believe i got the JD Heart
and Soul box set for £15.99 at Tower Records?? (well,
for free if you consider that my then-girlfriend
ex-store manager BINT bought it for me.. at least SOME
good came from that relationship???)<br><br>Meanwhile,
what does everyone think of the book "Touching From A
Distance" by Deborah Curtis?
whats ur opinions of this subject?<br>i'm torn
between "decades" and "love will tear us apart"! but if i
had to choose i'd go for decades. its so moving when
ian says "where have they been? where have they
been?"<br>luv mark xxxx
hey rach! well here's some info for u on joy
division!..they formed in 1977, calling themselves warsaw, but
then changed their name to joy division. the band
members were: ian curtis (vocals), bernard
sumner(guitar/keybaords), peter hook(bass) and steven morris(drums). their
2 albums were unknown pleasures in 1979 and closer
released in 1980. ian curtis hung himself 18th may 1980.
in 1981 the remainig members formed new order along
with stephen morris's gf gillian.<br>hope that's ok
