Yep, as a Ralf fan it feels like being back to
square one - all that Ralf bashing and Montymaniacs
saying Monty was going to whup Ralf's butt right from
the start of the 2001 season.
Ralf's in a unique
position in F1. He has the toughest hump to jump with a
brother like Michael in F1, and he has the toughest
teammate in F1 in YEARS.
You're right people are
negating Ralf's achievements just because JPM is rather
special. I'd like to see ANY driver - champ or otherwise,
withstand the JPM onslaught - particularly in his current
mood and momentum.
I've seen Michael buckle time
and time again under pressure (and I'm an ex-MS fan),
and go off-colour on that rare occasion when his
teammate hasdone better than him in a race. It's
undeniable that MS has never faced a purely equal team-mate
equation like his brother has had to. So, I'm left with
this question - could MS, JV, Mika and all the other
highly touted drivers have withstood JPM's late season
rush, while being in the same Williams team as
him?

I agree, Ralf has his hands full. It's encouraging
to see Patrick Head defending Ralf's recent run of
problems, and saying that they need to give him a decent
car throughout the season.
Ralf's done so much of
the work to help bring this team back to the top - it
sticks in my side a bit to see another driver swan in
and walk off with the accolades. I would have liked
to see JPM produce results in the Jordan 1997.
