Sir John,
I have reviewed your plans for next years spending. Firstly, I want
to say I was favourably impressed with your proposals, nevertheless I
don't think they are going to translate into reality.
Now, before you stomp off having a sense of humour failure (I've
known you long enough!) its actually good news for once!
I just got out from a conference with the PM. Seems he has been put
under 'pressure from above' (figure that out!) to step up our
activities. As a result, I've been advised that we are going to see a
very substantial increase in funding.
The problem that I forsee is we can't just snap our fingers and
instantly increase our training programs. We're going to be under
double pressure - actually needing to pull personnel *out* of the
field to expand our training activities, at the same time that we
want to be increasing our field staff.
We are going to have to come up with some creative solutions to find
the personnel that we need, and my gut feeling is that we need to
consider recruiting outside of our traditional pool. We will have to
leave no stone unturned, I want to trawl through our files and locate
any suitable candidates from any walk of life. Remember we need
support personnel as well as more traditional field agents. We will,
as ever, need recruits from other star nations. Let us approach our
allies in the usual manner and see who we can get them to shake loose
for us!
We'll have to hit the ground running with this, so thats why I'm
contacting you during your well earned break. We'll need to meet
first thing tomorrow to get things underway. In the mean time, enjoy
your last day on the slopes!
Regards!
