Hello Steve in Seattle. I'm Steve in Victoria, BC! I wish there were a bunch
of people here in Victoria who were into lazer tag. Maybe we can get something
going between Victoria and Seattle.

May the Force be with you,

Stevie

Hi, I'm Steve in Tacoma, WA. Sounds like you play some serious games!
The longest we've played here were 8 to 10 hours at an indoor arena in
Klingon costumes for charity.

I'm working on designing a replacement sensor head that is the equal
or better than the WoW Laser Tag and ESS sensors. The plan is to post
the design so anyone can build it. I'll make a kit available, too, and
just a PCB if you want to buy the parts. But the full schematic will
be available.

Many of the ICs I'm looking at only come in surface mount versions, so
a completed sensor head would also be available.

Even better if I can make it so you can build it to other carrier
frequencies.

I want gun/sensor sets that are compatible with WoW LT and ESS. I have
some ideas on ways to do this while allowing data transfer at the same
time.

Ferret - I'd concur with most, if not all, of the comments from David.

In LRPG point scoring is abit of a redundant concept - what we are after is
a combat simulation system that works at night and full sun, looks and
sounds plausible, is "fair" in terms of IR footprint, flash visibility and
sound loudness and permits people to be "hit" whilst "unarmed".

We also use a variety of sizes - from small and pistol like to larger and
assault rifle like. People have even built vulcan cannon style kit (a la
Predater). This depends on the game.

A major UK event occurs this weekend - DropZone. We have 4 themed games
around the "Aliens/Outland/High Frontier" style universe with groups of
marines and security operatives and also scientists, government bureacrats
and other groups all within the same game. It's live role play not a team
point scoring games. Groups of non-player characters and inter-group
interaction provide the entertainment! There are also other games on - one
is around finding the hidden loot from a bank heist - all IR "weapons" have
to be concealable as the "police" team will be alert for overt kit!

It would also be good to get "monsters" with more hits than the standrad 6
used in WoW - which is the system we use. We're also non-profit - it's a
hobby although Dave Bodger, Phil Higgins, Simon Russell and Rob Morton all
produce equipment for sale - but on a hobby scale generally.
