Re: Coming in from Left Field

Hi Ben,
Apologies for the delay, I've been working away.
I did think about it but I can't see anyone wanting it; I did have a Singer
sewing machine, a beautiful wooden model, made in 1900 but they sell for next to
nothing, looking at the prices on ebay. Scot's right when he says that often
these things cost little.

Whereas my bees are priceles :-)!!

I've yet to do the changeover as still preparing the area (my paid work takes up
too much time) but it's looking good and I hope to be finished today. Ray (the
chap with the compost bin) has agreed to take photos/ video so - good or bad -
we can look at the technique used and others can help improve on it.

At least, that's the plan!

Tim.

good position to follow up--how did this turn out? I'd have taken the cabinet to
an antiques dealer, and seen if it was worth
enough to buy wood for a Warre:) Then again, I don't know if folks on your side
of the pond spend ridiculously for things that are old, like us Yanks seem to."

Hi Dav, No, the comb will attach to the top and sides of the hive as they would with some of the tree type hives seen in pictures on the forum. I will also add...

You want to keep your hive bodies short for easier management. 210mm height of Warre's design was a comprimise from at 400mm original design. His assistant...

I'd hive them first, then remove the compost bin immediately to someplace else so field bees don't try to move back into it. Then you can move your hive at...
