Here are the confirmed details of our next event. It promises to be..
interesting... from a political standpoint. Am looking for players and crew
for this event.

Note, the payment deadline is deliberately set to be more than a month away
from the event while still avoiding the Christmas holiday. There is also a
downtime deadline of the 30th of November for both players and crew.

Ruins of Empire

The final chapter in the Avar cycle of the Campaign

Date: 1st - 3rd Feb, 2008

Where: Gladstone scout Centre, near Chester

Cost: £45 advanced booking (before 20th December, 2007), £60 after

The apocalypse ridden world of Avar is reeling following the announcement
that a 5,000 year old man has declared himself emperor of their planet. He
has banished the other races, especially the thieving and manipulative Cybel
and Oonym, from the planet and promises a new world order - a new Empire to
rise from the ashes of the old.

As the new ruler negotiates a peace between two of Avar's bitterest enemies,
representatives of all the tribes of Avar and all the races of the Galaxy
gather to find out exactly what forging this new world order will entail...

Sleeping arrangements - indoor sleeping. There are quite a large number of
bunks at this site (about 30 if I remember right) which will be offered to
crew first and then to players. Any remaining players will be able to sleep
in the main hut which is also quite large and spacious (bring airbeds and
camp beds). Place is also heated. There are hot showers and a very nice
kitchen.

E-mail: balor_99@... to book. Please do not reply all as this annoys
people...

Where? I don't see it and I can see the reflist group fine.

Post it up. Also, where are we at with dates / site? I need to get
dates booked fairly early, and there are some who need to do so more
than me.

Get on with it then...

Well, she's stuck in a muddy field doing the 18 hour 'LINEAR FROM HELL!!!!!'
Mwha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!! at BRR at the moment (the pre-event buzz said
that the players had to prepare for an overnight stay at the end of the
linear...) so isn't likely to do anything about it until she gets back and
even then not until she's had a bath and a rest :)

I'll probably do this tomorrow when I get back from the party I am going to
with the bottle of wine I *would* have drunk had I been at the event. All I
can say is 'Bloody electricians...'

Thats something all members can do if you have yahoo mail. But I'll do it as
well to make sure. Person involved has been banned though - no one survives
posting spam like that for long :)

Some plot stuff has already been posted to the refs list for comment.
Venue I intend to sort out in my lunchbreak next week (back at work now...)
Still looking at chester if not too expensive. Date - thinking early feb at
the moment as there is a massive glut of events between now and christmas
and this is the best date to avoid too many clashes. Could do with lists of
CP, LT and PD dates if anyone has them for next year yet...

Ok, there are two parts to this:

1) I need you all to go to:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/10792991@N02/1064752946/in/set-72157601332725769/

and select the best event photos from the selection there. I have put the
ones I think are good in that selection and given them names. I need votes
from all of you as to which ones you think are the best of these. A poll
will be provided either here, on Paradox realms or on Rule 7 for you to do
this. I am, however, leaving this a few days to allow people to add thier
own best pictures to the selection.

You are also free to suggest your own best photos - either from those you
have seen before on other sites or those you have maybe taken yourself and
which I have not seen.

2) I want captions for the photos. Submit the best caption that you think
fits the photos. There may be a prize for the one voted the best after all
entries are in.

I will set a deadline for both these tasks later but for now I just want you
to consider the photos.

Hi All,

By now you should all have recieved personal IC briefs for the event. If you
haven't it may be because we don't have confirmed character details for you,
we are not aware you have booked for the event or it has got lost somewhere
in cyberspace. If you are missing a brief and think you should have one,
please reply to this and let me know so I can sort it out.

You should also have the OOC details file which has the directions for the
site in it. If you haven't recieved this, again let me know so this can be
rectified.

Apologies in advance for the usual errors in the briefs. I know of at least
2 where I sent it off with the wrong OOC name, for example. Also apologies
for any errors in character skills. If you see any errors, please print off
a copy of your brief and annotate it to make the required changes and give
it back to me at the event so I can remember to make the changes.

See you all in a couple of days!

Hi All,

We have had a bit of a last minute prop crisis so if any of you out there
can help it would be appreciated.

There is a bit of this weekend's plot that involves a program running on a
laptop. The laptop needs to be capable of running the program (direct X 9 is
required as minimum, apparently, and windows XP) and have a free and working
USB port. I have tried it on my laptop and cannot get it to work despite
having direct X 10 and I suspect it is because of the spec being too low (my
laptop only barely has the required spec to run XP). You also need to be
able to copy and paste files into the program files folder to make it run.

The only trouble is that this laptop does need to be carted around the site
by whoever has the right computer skills to use it rather than just being
left in one area to run as previous ones have been. It therefore needs to
have a working battery with a reasonable lifespan (a couple of hours at
least - it can be plugged in to recharge inbetween uses easily enough). The
crew will need it for a few hours on friday both to install the software and
test it and also to feed it into the plot. After that, the players will have
it for the rest of the weekend.

If anyone can help please send me a mail as soon as possible. Thank you in
advance.

Hi all,

Please find attached directions and other information for the upcoming
Waypoint event. Please feel free to pass this onto anyone you think may not
get this message due to me not having thier details.

I am still waiting for character details for some of the players so if you
haven't already passed these onto me please do so as soon as possible so I
can write you a tailored brief. All I need is a name and concept/background
for this - you can finalise skills etc later. If I don't get anything before
midweek I will have to go ahead and give you just your race's 'general
brief' and any group briefs but nothing else.

We are also still short of crew (had another drop out today due to
circumstances unforseen) so if you know of any who are willing to come along
and crew feel free to let them know and bring them if you can.

I apologise in advance for the shoddiness of the directions. They are the
best we can do having talked to the site owners on the phone most of this
week trying to establish how the directions fit to the map. There is a map
reference and two postcodes (one for the site which may not work, the other
for the nearby train station) which may help with multimap and Tom Tom style
GPS things). As far as I can work out, the directions involve driving along
the A695 until you see a humped back bridge and turning in at the two stone
pillars...

If anyone has any problems with the directions, feel free to ring to scream
at me about them while I apologise. At least I will be safe in the knowledge
that you cannot find me to hurt me because the directions are so bad... :)

We do intend to put signs in appropriate places to help guide you, however.
So look out for the 'Waypoint LRP' logo somewhere.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Hi all,

Apologies if you get this twice or more. I am sending it to personal
addresses and the list to make sure it is seen.

As far as our records show, this is the list of booked players for the event
on 1st - 3rd June.

Sarah Lascelles
Iain Jackson (paid)
Douglas Cochrane* (paid)
Jeff Horton (paid)
Dave Hawkins (paid)
Jos Hawkins (paid)
Paul Addicot
Nicki*
Phil*
James*
Geoff*
Gareth Hayes (paid)
Paul Donovan*

If you think you should be on this list or think you have paid and are not
listed as paid, please let me know as soon as possible so I can correct our
records. If you are on this list then you can happily pay the 'cheap
pre-booking' price of £45. Payment can be done by direct transfer (account
details on request - please mail me to let me know you have made a payment
in this way) or cheques made payable to Waypoint LRP.

Also, some people on this list have not yet sent character details or
downtime details. I need these to be able to provide a tailored brief for
your character in order to make sure that you go into the event with all the
info you are likely to need. If there is a star next to your name then I
need character details from you.

Sometime over the next few weeks you can expect to get OOC details of the
event (directions, site info etc) and, closer to the event, individual
briefs.

At the moment, the crew situation is not as critical as it was. Some more
have appeared but we are still under the ideal magic number of 10 crew
members. If you can put the word out wherever you are (this goes to everyone
on here) and try to rustle up more it would be great.

Mike, we need to talk about what happens to Screams at Spirits just prior to
the event to explain why he is not there. My current thought is that some
serious Dagdans (who are wearing shades and dark suits and carrying shoulder
holstered guns in spirit if not in actuality) come and have a little chat to
him before the event and ask him to 'come along nicely, sir, there's a good
chap'. I'll tell you what happens next in private... :)

Just to remind you all: This Friday is the deadline for cheap bookings for
this event. If you haven't already booked you need to do so before this date
to qualify for the cheap price of £45.

At present we have 10 people who have booked as 'possibles' but have yet to
book. We ideally need 11 to make the event viable.

I will accept payments and bookings at Riftworld for any who are there.

If we do not get any firm bookings before Riftworld (11th May) then we will
have to consider cancelling the event.

Just a note to all players planning on taking or who already have the
Gatetech skill.

As of this coming event (June 1 - 3rd) there is a new way for phys repping
Gatescanners which I hope will be easier on the refs' feet and which will be
cooler for the players. Instead of a ref walking around and telling all
Gatetechs with a scanner when the gate is activating we are setting up a
short range FM transmitter with an MP3 player attached with the sound of the
gate. All players with a Gatetech character should try to acquire some form
of FM reciever and incorporate it into their existing gate scanner phys rep
or decorate it as the scanner itself. We will tell you what frequency to set
it to and when it makes a noise the gate can be considered active.

You can now get a hold of reasonably decent radio recievers in pound shops
now so this should not cost you too much money. If you can't get a hold of
one easily, let us know at the event and we will try to get round to tell
you using the old fashioned method. However, I cannot see anyone having
major problems with this. There is no limit on the size of the phys rep gate
scanner - they can be as small or as large as you like.
