I hear he's quite good. Oh, THAT Jason Falkner.
Yeah, I used to do his website. Sorry,it's been down
for a little bit, kids. We switched servers and I'm
practically retired since Linda's site is so up to date
anyways. I really have to mention this list on the site.
It's a great idea! I've been stupidly busy but got to
spend a bit of time with our boy up in Seattle a few
months ago (see report below). Haven't heard from him
since. Hope all's well with everyone.

Adam
Gimbel

Fears of a Spinal Tapesque instore (no promotion or
signs at Orpheum Records) were dashed by a packed room
listening to J play his best instore i've ever had the
pleasure to be around. of course, i'd missed Song For Her
but that didn't stop me from requesting it every
other song and putting some stickers next to him,
thereby making it the official Seattle Songs For Summer
record release party (too bad no Posies were there to
get up and play, Jon said he didn't hear about it, as
i'm sure most folks in town didn't). he played pretty
much EVERYTHING he usually plays from his 2 records at
these things plus Johnsburg, Illinois, Beyond Belief
and Ode To Lethargy (all my requests) and TONS of
bits of songs in between (Altered Images, Lloyd Cole,
Colin Blundstone, etc). When he did Beyond Belief, he
went to drop D tuning and then asked if Jon Auer was
there (i laughed 'cause i told him that Jon had also
recently covered it) then said he always wants to play
Posies songs when he does drop D and busted a bit of
Definite Door(!) Typically funny banter with reports on
Softcore, the Beatles covers record and he mentioned that
he ran into Andy Sturmer (at Ocean Way Studios,
heard later it was brief but nice). He even closed
w/Moonage Daydream from Ziggy Stardust. Nice! Hearing him
sing "The church of manlove is such a holy place to
be" was too funny.

The Air show at the
Experience Music Project Museum's Sky Church was really
really great. To those who already have seen Air,
picture the already amazing light show plus a 3 story
wall with things to project onto. unreal. Jason is
front and center, the most energetic and probably the
most musical of anyone up there. lots of singing, phat
bass lines plus more guitar-y bass solos throughout.
people shouted for him a few times in between songs
which was great. apparently, it was the weirdest show
of the tour, because of the somewhat strange space
that they played in (looked and sounded great to
us!).

cool to see and talk to Jason, Brian from RKross and
all the Posie kids (Jon, Ken, Joe and what's the new
bass guy's name?), who were there in full force so all
3 of the holy trinity of powerpop was represented.
:-) Jason said he'd run into Ken recently in London
when Air played Top Of The Pops the same night REM
did. superfun talking to all them all night long (in a
Lionel Richie kind of way). wish i could go to the LA
Posies show tonight but i'm just beaten. dang!
