Subject: Please help to stop vegetable oil power station in Wales
Dear friends,
We would appreciate your help with in objecting to plans for a new agrofuel power station in South Wales. You can find an email alert by Biofuelwatch here:
http://www.biofuelwatch.org.uk/finito-vogenmay2009.php .
If you have already received notice about this alert and have taken part in it, then please ignore this email.
Energy company Vo-gen has applied to Newport City Council for permission to build a 25 MW power station which would burn up to 40,000 tonnes of virgin vegetable oil every year. The vegetable oil will be delivered by ship and Vo-gen has confirmed in a newspaper article that they intend to burn palm oil. Imported soybean oil may also be used. The increased demand for palm oil and possibly soya would, directly or indirectly contribute to rainforest destruction and climate change, and more displacement and evictions of rural communities.
If you live in South Wales and would like to do more to help with the campaign then please email info@.... Please let friends and family know about this alert. Many thanks.
Best regards,
Almut Ernsting
