Hi
My name is Jim Hallam. I am a retired Schoolmaster and now
supplement my pension as an RFD, specialising older firearms. I am
Chairman of the South London RC (founded 1874) and a VP of the NRA
and HBSA. For 20 years or so I wrote the rules for "Historic
Shooting" for the NPA, HBSA and NRA and NSRA; I started all of the
major Bisley Open Meetings for "Historic Arms".
I normally put an advert in "The Rifleman" but this issue is delayed
(Brian Woodall got flooded out, unfortunately), so I am taking the
liberty of e-mailing you directly.
THIS COMING WEEKEND is the "SMRC Meeting" -- the Historic arms part
of the NSRA August Meeting. Apart from the obvious .22 Target rifle
matches it also includes Matches for Sporting rifle, military
trainer, Rook & Rabbit and Schutzen. UNUSUAL for an NSRA Meeting,
Centrefire Gallery Rifles are eligible -- assuming that they fall
within the timelined periods.
Since I started the SMRC Meeting 10 years or so ago, I have
(a) been there to lend rifles (f.o.c.) to people to try the
Prone and Standing Courses;
(b) given a .22rf lightweight rifle as a PRIZE for the Historic
Events -- every entry gets a free ticket;
(c) been there for Clubs etc., to bring their unwanted /
outdated rifles, sights, 'scopes and equipment which they want to
sell.
I will be at the "SMRC Caravan" at the LH end of the Century firing-
point on the 11th & 12th.
My gunroom is now established 250yards from the NSRA "Lord Roberts
Centre" -- at #6 Brunswick Drive, Brookwood, GU24 0NR
01483 472718 or 0775 369 7888.
I am a specialist in Collectors' Firearms, especially pistols (I
have full Section 5 authority, including MGs) and single-shot
rifles. i am pleased to assist in any way that i can, especially
with regard to deceased estates and items which have "appeared" (!)
Come down to the Meeting this weekend and have a chat.
Thanks for your forbearance
Jim Hallam
(BTW, if your Club needs facilities at Bisley, the SLRC may be able
to assist: with the cost of target hire some Clubs no longer shoot
their Full-Bore TR Championships, so some of them now "piggy-back"
with ours in October.)
