It seems to me that when "fitting" a rifle to a shooter (standing),
if the shooter is "average" height or above, additional modifications
are needed, above and beyond those available on the rifle as
purchased.
i.e. the Butt may have facility to extend but not enough, also most
people end up with sight raising blocks and placing the butt high in
the shoulder rather than fitting into the curve of the buttplate.
Are we just getting too tall for "Standard" rifle dimensions?
When I took up rifle I also took up "free" rifle shooting & have no
trouble getting that rifle to fit.
(That's probably not entirely true. Dave F wanted me to try extra
sets of sight raising blocks. but I said I'd end up having to look
for sponsorship from LEGO !.)
Can anyone tell me where I can find a simple chart of ergonomic data
which traces the "average" size of western men/women over the last
twenty or so years?
I have tried looking on the net but it doesn't understand "simple".
I'd like to see how much taller we are now than when the standard
rifle dimensions were formulated.
