Ben Wright sent us this one late last year. This rule affects all
ISSF disciplies and comes into force on 1st Jan 2004).

Side blinders attached to shooting glasses or to a head band not
exceeding 40mm deep are permitted. These blinders must not extend
further forward than to a line from the centre of the forehead.
8.4.9.6 - A piece to cover the non aiming eye not larger than 30mm

The official web site for the London 2012 Olympic bid is here.
http://www.london2012.org/en/.
While not offering an obvious 'contact us' option there is a 'support
us' tab to follow which, when you register, enables you to add a
message.
I'm wondering what their reaction would be if there were a series of
enquiries along the lines of "....we've got free pistols back through
the 'longarm 60' court decision BUT Rapid Fire pistol, a part of the
core Olympic programme is still effectively illegal in this country.
How will that affect our chances of a succesful Olypmic bid?....."
The 'boss' of the London2012 bid is an American high flyer called
Barbara Cassani and I can't believe she'd put herself forward for a
campaign that she KNEW was doomed from the start.
For more information on Free Pistols & the 'Longarm60' ruling contact
the NSRA or see our main web site.
Just a polite request,
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE EMAIL ADDRESSES OF MEMBERS OF THIS BOARD TO
SEND ANY KIND OF BULK EMAIL i.e SPAM.
I do not want to configure the board to 'hide' email addresses as it
prevents us from using other features which may prove useful.
SPAM, even genuine enquiries, requests or information, just tends to
wind people up & could be considered an invasion of privacy.
The board can be used to post on any subject you like, as often as
you like & obviously will be seen by, not just the members, but
anyone who reads the board.
So, if you want coverage & publicity, without raising anyones
hackles, that's got to be a better option, hasn't it?
Thanking everyone in advance for their co-operation.

OK, the new season is almost upon us ..
So ... who is going the 'frostbite' shoot at Bromyard on the 1st of
Febraury then?
What progress has been made regarding the range at
Wolverhampton::Aldersley stadium? anyone know?
Smallbore shooters in North Worcestershire may like to keep an eye on
developments with the Stourport club. Quite a few county level
.22/50m shooters are considering or have already joined, there should
be a bit more activity this year on that front ... summer leagues etc
if there is enough interest. If you are within driving distance of
Stourport/Kidderminster its worth consdiering.
Don't forget the Bedford clubs '80 at 25yards' shoot is later this
month, always a good turnout with several national team members tkaing
part, so a good standard of competition and a fair amount to go at.
I'll be there with a few from our club probably too.

Very intersting it was too!. Hopefully we'll have some cartridge
facilities (indoor 25m) at Aldersley before the end of the year.
That should followed by the refurbishment of the outdoor range to
provide cartridge facilites up to 100m (P S & k)
Representatives of most major shooting disciplines, including,
olympic target, field & crossbow were there to give the
planners/architects the benefit of their experience.
If you didn't go, don't complain if the finished article doesn't suit
your shooting needs.
From Trevor Haynes
"On Thur 23 Jan there's a presentation of proposals for shooting
development @ Wolverhampton. It's being held in the leisure centre
from 14:00 -20:00. As users or potential users, it's your chance to
have a say.
I think it's important that as many of you as possible attend and air
your views.
For further info contact Tony Taylor @ NISC on 01902 743562."
For anyone who doesn't know the Aldersley, behind the NISC is an
outdoor cartridge range previously run by a local club. Amongst
other things it is hoped to integrate the two ranges to provide a
real "centre of excellence"
The first squad (Air rifle & air pistol) training day is on the 18th
of January at the NISC.
Will anyone wishing to attend please inform their coach beforehand.
All the training days can be found on the squad website but I'm
putting a copy in the "files" section of this forum too.
Good Luck to everyone, air or cartridge.
I've got no problems helping out the NSRA if the following conditions were met:
1) They'd finally do something for the grass roots shooters.
2) The existing management that have got the NSRA into the state it is in are removed and replaced with shooters who understand the sport and those who take part. (especially some who understand the sport further north than Watford!)
3) Through point 2 the association becomes transparent to it members instead of the closed ranks that it currently operates behind.
It seems to me that when "fitting" a rifle to a shooter (standing),
if the shooter is "average" height or above, additional modifications
are needed, above and beyond those available on the rifle as
purchased.
i.e. the Butt may have facility to extend but not enough, also most
people end up with sight raising blocks and placing the butt high in
the shoulder rather than fitting into the curve of the buttplate.
Are we just getting too tall for "Standard" rifle dimensions?
When I took up rifle I also took up "free" rifle shooting & have no
trouble getting that rifle to fit.
(That's probably not entirely true. Dave F wanted me to try extra
sets of sight raising blocks. but I said I'd end up having to look
for sponsorship from LEGO !.)
Can anyone tell me where I can find a simple chart of ergonomic data
which traces the "average" size of western men/women over the last
twenty or so years?
I have tried looking on the net but it doesn't understand "simple".
I'd like to see how much taller we are now than when the standard
rifle dimensions were formulated.

WMRTSS Air training went well today. Trevor (Haynes)prepared a
schedule of training exercises to span the day. You could do a lot
worse than incorporating this schedule in your own training session
or just borrowing parts of it depending on how much time you've got.
Most exercises can be adapted for rifle shooting.
We meet again on the 9th of November.
I guess I'll see some of you at Leominster at the weekend, but I
thought I'd say hello here as well ..
So .. quick update,
Visited Eley again last week, having shot the 5000 I selected in
March, I thought I ought to get some more before the factory moves ..
13.1 and 13.6 mm batches were found from the testing, so I bought one
and the cupboard is full of little red boxes again. I'll try and use
Match EPS indoors this winter and stretch the Tenex out a little
incase the factory move prevents them from making decent ammo for a
while.
Amongst my plans for the winter, I've got it into my head to run an
'indoor english match' postal competition.
We've been shooting a version of the English Match indoors the last
few weeks and its quite fun. The idea is to keep in practice with 60
shot matches so they don't come as a bit of a shock at the start of
next season, and to keep some pace and rythmn to the shooting. There
is a tendency to switch from a reasonable shooting pace to a snail
like crawl on indoor targets (how many people do you know who can
spend 20 minutes on a 10 bull card?) the 60 shot format encourages you
to keep the speed up, which will help when shooting outdoors next
year.
So:
6 x 10 shot cards @ 20 or 25 yards, Sighter on the first card only. 60
minutes shooting time, 90 minutes total time including target
changing. You start your personal timer when you pick up the rifle,
stop it when you put it down again for each card. This way several
people can shoot the match at the same time and keep track of their
own times. In practice 45 minutes shooting time is usually quite
enough. Shot alongside a couple of mates its quite fun as you edge a
few points ahead ... and the time limits mean it doesn't take all
evening either. Each shooter must stand at the end of each detail, so
you get the practice of getting back into position and taking a
scoring shot 5 times. (ie no staying in position and sending someone
to change the target or putting two cards up at once)
If anyone is interested in shooting say 5 postal matches (total 300
shots) over the winter period, let me know by email and if I can find
enough I'll send out some stickers and let battle commence. I'll bring
some forms along to Leominster atthe weekend and try and persuade
people there too.
Best regards
Robin Szemeti

The next WMRTSS airgun training session takes place at the NATIONAL
INDOOR SHOOTING CENTRE at Aldersley Stadium in Wolverhampton on
Saturday the 5th of October.
Any "guests" to this page who are interested in seeing what we do are
welcome to come along but we'd appreciate it if you could contact us
first if possible.
Joe wasn't the brightest spark in the shooting club but he was always
trying to improve and his coach advised him to get some shooting
glasses.
He visits the local optician who tells him that he'll have to have
his eyes tested first.
"I want you to look at this little light with your left eye please
Joe……….
No Joe, that's your right eye, I said your left eye."
"Now I want you to look at this chart with your right eye please
Joe……..
NO JOE, that's your LEFT EYE, I said your RIGHT eye"
The optician had had enough.
"Look Joe, wait there, I'm just going to get something"
The optician goes out & comes back with a paper bag with two eye-
holes cut in it.
He puts the bag over Joes head.
"Right then Joe, if I turn the bag this way, you can only see out of
your left eye.
If I turn the bag the other way, you can only see out of your right
eye.
And if I turn the bag back you can see out of BOTH eyes. How's that?"
"All right, I suppose" mumbles Joe. "But I really wanted something in
folding wire frames!"
I've made the message archive public so anyone , not just members,
can see what's being posted.
This will be better for any "guests" who come in while "surfing" or
anyone who's not automatically signed in
I'll try again! Something went wrong with last message.
