Childcare training for unemployed Somali women 

 

account3, working with local Somali led groups, will provide accessible and  flexible training for Somali residents who want to work with children.

 

account3 is recruiting Somali women that want to work in childcare, nursery, youth or school environments

 

The project will work with Somali women who would like to work in childcare related fields and provide:

 

Introductory workshops in childcare related issues - eg Motivating activities, Healthy eating, safety, first aid and care of children for which they will receive attendance certificates.

 

These will be followed by a more formal Introduction to Childcare training course, with embedded basic skills, leading to a nationally recognised qualification

 

On completion participants will be able to enter a higher level skills training leading to NVQ Level 2.

 

Account3 also offer temporary jobs through our sessional recruitment agency and support into longer term jobs with other employers

 

The training project is funded by the European Social Fund under the pan London co-financing programme and offers help with travel costs and a free crèche will be available to unemployed women who can show the need it.

account3 was one of very few voluntary sector organisation to receive funding from the Ecotec pan London programme. The project will run until Dec 2006.  On receiving the award Toni Meredew Service Manager said

 

"The women we work with at account3 are making a real difference to their own lives through sheer determination and  hard work and we appreciate the support we get from funders to help make this happen".

 

account3 are based in Bethnal Green and provide a one-stop shop for women's training and development including a range of vocational training, job search, benefits and welfare advice and support to set up and stay in business.
