Skills Education & Awareness Training:
Working with Asian women who Self-harm

Newham Asian Women's Project:
This is a basic practice-based course aimed at helping participants to
work more effectively and appropriately with young Asian women who
self-harm and who maybe vulnerable to suicide, as well as supporting
participants to use the Self-harm Training Pack with their colleagues
in a safe and appropriate manner.
Content:
* exploring what self-harm is, why people self-harm and the functions
of self-harm;
* relationship between self-harm and suicide;
* why young Asian women may be at higher risk;
* the role of culture and self-harm and addressing inter-cultural
working practices;
* managing responses, attitudes, beliefs and feelings about self-harm;
* exploring and identifying possible practical and easily accessible
responses to self-harm.
Price: £80/£120 (includes Breakfast, Lunch & Refreshments + a Silent
Scream: Training Pack worth £25).
This training is free to Newham and City & Hackney PCT staff.
We can also provide in-house training.
