Hello, from Sara Stanton and Louise Pembroke. Welcome to our newsgroup.
We both hear voices, and are survivors of the psychiatric system and mental health activists who have been involved with Mad Politics over a number of years.
World Hearing Voices Day (WHVD) was instigated by Louise in 2006, with INTERVOICE (The International Network for Training, Education and Research into Hearing Voices). We felt that voice hearers should have their own day once a year.
WHVD is about challenging the incorrect assumption that hearing voices is always a sign of illness.
WHVD is about raising awareness of the issues facing the estimated four per cent of women, men and children across the world who hear voices. It is also about celebrating the diversity of experiences that we have as individuals.
Please feel free to join this newsgroup. We are unable to respond to individual requests for information or advice through this newsgroup.
By joining this newsgroup we will be able keep you up to date with our work around WHVD and send you information about forthcoming events, conferences, training and seminars we are running for WHVD
Thank you for your interest and please feel free to join the group
