Jim Ross has a new blog entry available on his official website. Below are the highlights:
- The gentleman who wrote and displayed the "J.R. is Overrated" sign that was shown on Raw Monday night emailed our Q&A section of the site and I responded to him. You can check out the email and my response in their entirety in the Q&A section. He's from the UK, says he has a Masters Degree, and seemed to be protesting the "Michael Cole backlash" as he put it. I did not know that there was a "Michael Cole backlash" but that may be another case of "there you are" as my Dad used to say.
- I'm happy to see that former WWE Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle's legal sagas have ended at least for the time being. I hate to read about anyone that I know having personal issues that are embellished and broadcast throughout the media. I've said it many times, "wrestling romances" rarely work over the long haul and those that do are simply meant to be and are the exception to the rule. Those involved in the one's that l do last are blessed individuals who are able to avoid the egocentric and paranoid fueled pitfalls that plague other couples who are usually in lust and not in love. I hope that Kurt can happily move on in his life in a healthy way.
- I'm told that the Undertaker-Jericho main event on Friday Night Smackdown, starring Todd Grisham and Matt Striker, is a dandy. Can't wait to catch it on TV Friday night or over the weekend on DVR.
- The WWE Hulk Hogan DVD has some great, old bouts on it including some taped matches from live events that really put in some time. I love the atmosphere of the darkened arena and the focus being on the ring and the performers in the ring and not on fans looking to get their 15 minutes or seconds of fame especially those that would rather watch the 'tron instead of the ring. I know, I'm old school......so what? If you like old school wrestling and seeing some of the business' biggest names from back in the day I think that you will enjoy this DVD. It isn't a "tell all" type DVD but is heavy on classic wrestling bouts from a variety of arenas and TV shoots. Old schoolers might really get a kick out of JR and The King reuniting for some of these bouts that we narrate as opposed to doing "live commentary." King even reveals how Hulk invented a back shaving device that Jerry began utilizing himself. Seeing Hulk with the late, WWE HOF'er Classy Freddie Blassie was a hoot. I never realized Hogan was as hairy as George "The Animal Steele at one point in Hulk's career.
- Really good, solid, physical wrestling match Tuesday night on ECW between Christian and William Regal. I was sort of expecting Regal to win the ECW Title but, alas, I was wrong again. Arguably that outcome might have added a different wrinkle to ECW. But there's always next week so stay tuned.
- The WWE Hall of Fame class for 2010 seems to be garnering more interest as our email flow gets stronger. Lots of speculation that the "Ultimate Warrior" will be inducted this year. I have no clue but the fact that "Warrior" lives in Phoenix, the site of WM26, being a significant reason as to why makes zero sense to me. Either the man deserves to be introduced or he doesn't no matter his zip code. I personally feel the former Blade Runner is deserving and just because the guy is considered "controversial" should not exclude him from any accolade. Warrior's accomplishments and contributions to the business are what counts and hearing Warrior's acceptance speech live and in person would be classic and likely a "Wrestlemania Moment."
Ted DiBiase and Ron Simmons would be on any personal, short list I were to compile for the 2010 WWE HOF as well.

WWE SmackDown/ECW Live Results
November 14th, 2009 - Dublin, Ireland
Report by Paul Kenny, ProWrestling.net
The arena was completely sold out it hold with about 11,000 people.
1. John Morrison beat Matt Hardy to retain Intercontinental Title. A really nice way to open the show. A good match with some nice spots from Morrison.
2. Shelton Benjamin beat Zack Ryder. A decent match some slow spots, including a few long headlock spots. There were a few big spots with Benjamin.
3. Drew McIntyre defeated Finlay. :( Before the match drew cut a promo saying he was disappointed that WWE was not going to Scotland. He called Ireland out for changing currency to the Euro. OMFG, when Finlay came out the roof was lifted. A nice match with a few comedy spots from Finlay. He even got an "ole ole ole" chant going (it's an irish soccer song).
4. Ezekiel Jackson defeated Goldust.. Squash match for Jackson.
5. Mickie James and Katie Lea beat Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix. It was sloppy, but okay for a diva match.
6. Rey Mysterio beat Dolph Ziggler. Very good match. Rey was mega over with the fans. A few good spots. Man, seeing Rey in person is amazing. He moves with incredible speed in the ring.
INTERMISSION
7. Christian beat William Regal to retain ECW Championship. Solid match. Christian was over in a big way. After the match, Regal took the mic and said he would never come back to Dublin again. Yay!
8. R-Truth beat Eric Escobar. R.T just danced and got Escobar got rolled up!
9. Undertaker beat CM Punk in a casket match to retain the World Hvt. Championship. Very good match. Taker's presence is something special. Some very good spots with the casket. The only downside was that the diva match was longer :(
Notes: Overall it was a very good show. I would recommend going to any WWE event because the atmosphere is always great and you get some very entertaining matches.
Top 3 most over
1 Finlay
2 Rey Mysterio
3 Undertaker
Top 3 most heat
1 Drew McIntyre
2 William Regal
3 John Morrison

I will admit to being a complete slacker where raw and sd vids are concerned thing is, Ive had very little time or energy lately to sit and do them when almost no one is intersted. if people are actually wanting the vid clips from Raw/SD then I dont mind sorting out the time to do them. When Im met with a resounding silence though it hardly gives me motivation to sit here for a couple of hours a week clipping it all and capping it all. I know Ive said this before so Im sorry for repeating myself but if you guys want Raw and SD clips & caps please let me know!

Early this morning, Jamie Noble contacted WWE.com to reveal his decision to conclude his seven-year career as a WWE Superstar and retire from the squared circle.
The WWE website published the following story today, kayfabely noting Noble made the "regrettable announcement" hours after he was released from the medical facility where he sought treatment for injuries sustained at the hands of Sheamus last week on Raw and after years of nagging shoulder and neck injuries.
"Luckily, the doctors tell me I'm going to recover again," Noble told WWE.com in an article published earlier this week. "But I'm laying here thinkin' about how great my life is with my wife and my son. I'm thinkin', how many more times am I gonna be lucky enough to walk out of the hospital on my own? I'm thinkin' it might be time to hang up my tights and boots."
This past February, Noble suffered a legitimate neck injury when Mike Knox delivered a hard clothesline during a match on Raw. However, the injury was not developed into a storyline and Noble simply disappeared from television for a few weeks.

The latest issue of the Figure Four Newsletter speculates that the Ultimate Warrior could be a surprise inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame next year as the often troubled relationship between the former WWE Champion and Vince McMahon has apparently been thawed out.

On top of that, Warrior lives in Phoenix — the site of WrestleMania XXVI — and it's interesting to note that the event will be the 20th anniversary of his epic victory over Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI. Furthermore, he has been featured on the company website much more frequently in recent months.

The Sun posted the following

It's interesting to note that Chris Jericho sent out a tweet just after midnight one day last week wondering if he was going to get in trouble. He wrote: "Hey you ever wonder...wait am I gonna get in trouble?"

"When WWE came to me and said they wanted me to write the book, I said, 'Oh no, I'm not ready for that,'" explained Mysterio, shaking his head in disbelief. "It was more of a shock to me - I wasn't expecting it. I always planned to write something closer to the end of my career. But they kept persisting.

"Once I began working on it, it immediately became very interesting for me," he recalled. "Everything just started flowing. It was really cool to reminisce, looking back at stories from day one all the way to the present, even stories from the age of 8 years old."

Undertakers Rest In Peace Tour: Cardiff 09/11/2009

Hello there. Not a particularly large crowd in the CIA tonight, lots of empty seats and people switching seats for a better view. Lots of kids dressed as John Cena for some reason. Show started at 7.25, earlier than advertised.

  1. CM Punk vs. Undertaker in a World Championship Casket Match.
It seemed strange to have the main event on first, but made sense when the Undertaker had to make his cameo in Sheffield. Punk came out first and cut a promo on how disgusting it was the only straight edge champion was booed in Cardiff. The casket was second and was eerie feeling in the arena. Taker came out and Punk jumped him straight away. Back and forth match with lots of strikes and kicks. Both men hit some big moves such as old school, flying clothesline, chokeslam and the Go 2 Sleep. Finish saw the Undertaker counter a second Go 2 Sleep attempt into a Tombstone and roll Punk into the casket. Taker then posed for a bit but left quickly afterwards (presumably to catch a lift).
Winner: The Undertaker.

Some new girl (Savannah?) asked a family who was the intercontinental champion. They guessed correctly and got moved to front row seats.

  1. Divas Battle Royale
A six woman match featuring Rosa Mendes, Natalya, Layla, Beth Phoenix, Katie Lea Burchill and Mickie James for a shot at the Women’s Championship later on the night. Rosa started off the match by posing in the middle of ring, so all the other Divas ganged up and tossed her out. Katie Lea threw out Layla leaving Natalya, Beth, Katie and Mickie. Mickie was targeted by the other girls but managed to eliminate Katie Lea and Natalya in short order. Beth then dominated Mickie for a minute before a Glam Slam attempt resulted in Beth getting thrown over the top. Mickie was a clear favourite, no one in the crowd reacted for any other divas.
Winner: Mickie James.

  1. Ezekiel and Zack Ryder vs. Yoshi Tatsu and Finlay.
Finlay was really popular with the crowd and Ryder had all the little heel traits down well. Finlay grabbed a welsh flag from the crowd and paraded it around the ring before the match started. Typical tag match from the 80s, Finlay was the face in peril while Zeke and Ryder continued the beat down. Zeke performed a lot of power moves while Ryder did a few submissions. Yoshi got the hot tag and went to work. Nice top rope spinning heel kick towards the end of the match. Finish saw Zeke getting ejected from the ring while Finlay hit Ryder with the shillelagh and Yoshi hit the big kick. After the match Finlay and Yoshi went around the ring to celebrate with the fans.
Winners: Yoshi Tatsu and Finlay

  1. Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre
McIntyre came out and ripped on the Welsh people for simply being ‘wannabe- Scots’. Matt Hardy came out to a great ovation. The match involved a lot of stalling at the start until McIntyre began to beat down Hardy. A long and strong come back for Hardy saw him hit most of his arsenal at McIntyre. McIntyre loosened the turnbuckle pad but to no use. Shortly afterwards McIntyre did a quick roll up with his feet on the ropes. Hardy got a good reaction afterwards.
Winner: Drew McIntyre.

  1. Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty.
Cryme Tyme seemed massively over. Cryme Tyme started very strong doing lots of moves and countering Tyson Kidd. Kidd kept taunting the audience which gained him a respectable amount of heel heat. Change in dynamic came when JTG attempted a springboard move and Kidd dropkicked on the apron into the ring post. Harts hit some nice double team moves and stayed ion charge for a long time. Shad came in and cleared house. The finish was Shad hitting a STO on David Hart Smith and JTG hitting the Yossino move on Kidd.
Winners: Cryme Tyme.

  1. Intercontinental Championship Match: John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler.
Ziggler claimed the WWE universe came to see him win the IC title and introduce himself. But Morrison’s music interrupted the latter. Morrison hit some big moves and a spinning dive to the outside on Ziggler. In a great spot, Morrison was dragging Ziggler up the steel steps when Ziggler whipped Morrison’s legs away and had him fall chest first onto the steps. Ziggler worked at Morrison’s mid section from then on. Bear hugs, body scissors and stomps for most of the match. When Morrison started his comeback, the competition really heated up. Morrison tried to hit a Starship Pain but Ziggler moved. Morrison then went for a Moonlight Drive but it was reversed into a famouser. Morrison then hit a ddt and Starship Pain for the win.
Winner: John Morrison.

Intermission was about 10 minutes long. Much shorter than usual.

  1. Women’s Championship Match: Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool
Not much of a match or reaction for either diva. Story was Mickie hurt her leg and McCool worked over it. However, Mickie completely forgot about selling the leg in her comeback until finish. McCool got the win with a rollup. Nothing match.
Winner: Michelle McCool

  1. ECW Championship Match: Christian vs. Goldust
Goldust had quite a few supporters in Wales. Christian had some too, but not as much as he would’ve had in 2005. Fun match, Goldust was the guy in trouble for the start and Christian was going for the Killswitch early. Goldust got in some good shots with his punches and slams. Chrsitian went to the second rope for a sunset flip and a missile dropkick. Goldust then began tourette-sing up for a last wind hitting a powerslam, drop down punch and a bulldog. Christian countered shattered dreams into a flying European uppercut and a Killswitch for the win.
Winner: Christian.

  1. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio.
Batista got a huge pop but managed to quickly get heel heat with a few nice hand signals to the crowd. Mysterio got a good ovation. Batista stalled for a long time, but then got in a lot of power moves. Mysterio kept coming back but was always cut short. Mysterio managed to hit several high flying moves which propelled Batista to the outside. Mysterio then hit a seated senton onto Batista, but Batista then managed to whip him into the steps. Batista then got a chair and hit him in the gut.
Winner: Mysterio by DQ.
Then came a wonderful closing sequence. Batista went back into the ring and was hit by Twist of Fate from Matt Hardy. As Hardy stood there, Dolph Ziggler ran in and hit Hardy with a Zig Zag. Ziggler is then hit by Shad’s STO. Shad gets powerslammed by David Hart Smith. Smith is hit by JTG’s Yossino move. JTG is hit by a unique over the shoulder slam by Tyson Kidd. Kidd then gets wiped out by a seated senton from Mysterio. Finally, Mysterio dropkicked the steel chair into Batista and hit a 619. The faces stood up and celebrated to close the show.

WWE RAW House Show Report - 11/5 Glasgow, Scotland

I was in attendance this evening at the WWE RAW brand house show in the Braehead Arena, Glasgow, Scotland.
The arena was almost sold out and Justin Roberts was the ring announcer. Jack Doan and Mike Chioda did referee duties.

1) Evan Bourne pinned Chavo Guerrero with the Shooting Star Press in an excellent opening match. Went about 12 minutes.

Gail Kim was in the crowd and gave a some kids front row tickets.

2) Jack Swagger pinned Santino Marella in 8 minutes with the Doctor Bomb. Match felt very long with lots of stalling and offence from Swagger. Marella Hulked up to a great pop however.

3) Paul Burchill pinned The Hurricane in 8 minutes with the Jackhammer. Match had very little heat but Burchill worked well as always.
4) Sheamus pinned Primo with a Bicycle Kick in about 8 minutes. Sheamus got on the mic before the match to get heat. Match didn't really get over well. It sucks to be Primo.

5) Mark Henry pinned Chris Masters with the World's Strongest Slam in about 6 minutes. Masters did the peck dance a few times and got a pop. Henry was very over in Glasgow.

INTERMISSION

6) Divas Champion Melina pinned Alicia Fox in the worst match of the night in 6:30 with a blown leg drop.  Jillian Hall was the ring announcer.  Melina blew at least 4 spots and looked bloody awful throughout. Alicia didn't look much better

7) United States Champion The Miz beat MVP and Kofi Kingston in a Triple Threat Match, when he pinned MVP after Kofi hit Trouble in Paradise and Miz tossed him. Big heat for Miz and big pops for the faces. Pretty good match, went just over 10 minutes.

8) John Cena, Triple H and Shawn Michaels beat Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes, when the faces pinned the heels at the same time. Cena pinning Rhodes was the legal pinfall.
DX and Cena got monster reactions. Glow sticks a plenty! Good main event with great heat all the way through. Legacy got the heat or Cena for the finish and Hornswoggle in DX gear made the save. After the match Cena, DX and Hornswoggle posed for the fans and did the crotch chop in unison..
