Group Description

Currently we live in a world where a growing number of people suffer the consequences of a lack of vital nutrients due to dietary simplification and neglect of more nutritious options. This list is run by a small group of people associated with the UNEP/GEF supported "Mainstreaming Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition" project who are dedicated to reversing this situation. The list is specifically designed to bring people together who have a common interest in the use of local biodiversity, wild and cultivated, for improving nutrition, health and wellbeing. The list will provide a forum for:

(1) Sharing information on successes and lessons learned in promoting local agrobiodiversity for food and nutrition.
(2) Announcements of relevant news, publications and meetings.
(3) Discussion on improving cross-sector partnerships, enhancing awareness and improving policy frameworks for mainstreaming biodiversity for food and nutrition.

Members can post to the group by sending a message to Biodiversity_for_Nutrition@yahoogroups.com

Members are expected to respect the standard ethics of electronic discussion.
