The Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn (NEB) will be running a special train on the freight line from Rheinsberg (Mark) to Stechlinsee station on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August. The train is a continuation of the RB54 service from Berlin Lichtenberg and Löwenberg to Rheinsberg, leaving Rheinsberg at 13:20 and returning from Stechlinsee at 14:20. Stechlinsee bahnhof served a large nuclear power station, now decommissioned and the area around it is a nature reserve. A round trip costs €5 and is not included in the normal VBB tariff. Also relatively close to Berlin, though in a different country (Poland), trains are reported to be diverted between Szczecin Glowny and Szezecin Gumience via Szczecin Wzgórze Hetmańskie while a section of the main line is renewed. No information as to how long this will be on for though.
