- 29 Oct 06:33I've been fitting pegheds for years now and wouldn't dream of returning to taper pegs. The only problem with the flamenco guitar type which were nearest to gurdy pegs ,was that they were too short for many applications. I got the maker to redesign some just for gurdy .Full details are here : http://www.hurdy-gurdy.org.uk/pegheds.htmlI agree they are expensive but you get a lifetime of trouble free tuning .
I'm a bit late to the party on this, but these are what I used:Pegheds.com - The New Revolution in Tuning
That was the best investment I've made. Unfortunately the supplier I had for them can no longer get them because the company had the bright idea of also being the sole supplier but also has no eCommerce platform.
I've also heard good things about Perfection Pegs, mentioned by Scott above: Perfection Planetary Pegs
They are not cheap either, but seem like they would be good as well. They do have a limited sort of eCommerce ability, but you'd need to talk to them directly.
