  • Thanks all for the useful advice, I now have the rear wheels off the car. Now all I have to do is change the brake pads and I'll be back on the road. But I'll leave that until the weekend when I get a chance to work in daylight. Alan

  • I can't seem to remove the BBS alloy wheels from my '87 e28. I've removed the 5 bolts holding on the wheels but there is no give whatsoever, they won't budge. I've tried tapping lightly on the rim with a mallet to loosen them up, as I know alloys can corrode onto the wheel hub. I've also given the tyres few kicks and wollops with a sledge hammer, but no movement. Am I missing...

  • Exxactly the same thing happened to me last year! Try german E-bay (www.ebay.de), you're looking for a "kuhler" (cooler!) with an umlaut accent (double dots) on the u. I got a new bmw rad' there for 35EUR plus another 22EUR post & packing, which I thought was pretty reasonable. Good luck. • Haven't had that problem with my e28 but my 1989 Toyota Corolla had the same problem a couple of years ago. Fixed it by replacing the lever. Don't know if that helps you much!! skyfly44kk wrote: > Anyone in this group have experience with this problem? > 1988 bmw 528e i have to hold the hi/low beam lever to maintain low beam > if driving at night. • I have a 1987 e28 520i. When I tried to start it yesterday (it's been sitting unused for a week at approx' zero degrees centigrade) it fires up ok but the battery light stays on and the engine is struggling to stay going. Then I press the accelerator pedal and the battery light goes out, the engine cuts out, and the central locking goes absolutely crazy!! Any ideas what could be...

  • The instrument panel illumination on my e28 is very weak. Is there any easy way of increasing the amount of light produced by the strip-lights at the top of the panel? Do they dull with age or are they low-intensity by design? The car is a rhd 1987 520i. Alan -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. • On my 1987 520i the rubber boots are split on the the shafts between the diff' and the wheels (at the wheel ends). What are these boots called? Where would I get replacements in the UK/Ireland? I've looked at both Eurocarparts and GSF on-line catalogues but neither seem to stock anything that fits what I think I need. Thanks in advance, Alan -- No virus found in this outgoing...

  • I'm getting that at the moment, but I'm guessing that winter in Ireland is a lot more cold and damp than it is in San Antonio, so I doubt if your car's problems are similar to mine. • Paul, Is your driver's seat from a UK rhd car? If so, someone with a LHD car out there might be interested, as your passenger side seat would make them a nice new driver's seat? paulhunterm535i wrote: > > Hi i have some beige cloth front seats and rears seats, immaculate > condition but drivers seat is mashed up BMWe28 > > will accept any offers, as im goin to throw em away...
