  • Hi, i'm trying to smarten up my '85 528 and want to replace the front and rear window trims. The plast-chrome strips always fade or yellow, and do they shrink? (I've had 2 different e28s and the window trims always seem too short!) I got a price from Sytner's in Nottingham. When I came to, I thought I would seek your collective wisdom, and maybe save a few quid. Any idea where I...

  • Hi, anyone know where I can get a decent set of imperial alloys for my new 528i? (currently running on a mint set of metric alloys, but you know the price of tyres for them!) I'm after the usual bbs-style either 14"s or 15"s. E-bay has come up lacking and i'm trying not to break the bank. Cheers

  • Help please - I've got an '86 520auto. When driving at 55/60mph i get steering wheel shake exactly as if the wheels weren't balanced and although i have had them balanced by two separate garages, it still remains. Any ideas? One wag at the garage said "don't drive at 55/60", but i'm sure that's not the only solution! The alloys are 14" and in great condition, any ideas...

  • The viscous coupler is a little piece of temperature-sensitive metal that controls what temp. to kick in the cooling fan, its housed near the fan somewhere (i had a mechanic sort mine, sorry). They break through metal fatigue over time. The car runs fine on clear runs or motorways because the air speed is enough to cool the rad., but around town it starts to overheat as the fan...

  • It's the viscous coupler, i reckon. Not too expensive to replace and fairly easy if you want to do it yourself. I had same symptoms myself. Good luck ___________________________________________________________ Now you can scan emails quickly with a reading pane. Get the new Yahoo! Mail. http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/nowyoucan.html

  • Brilliant, found a radiator on ebay.de, it's in the post as we speak. They've got everything you could want for an e28, it's just knowing the name of it in German, may have to start learning it again! • Hi, i have been renovating an early '86 520i auto (Blue Steel, as it's refered to) and just when i thought i had it going good.... the top inlet pipe on the rad broke after some over-zealos jubilee clip tightening. I can't find a radiator to fit without looking at silly money for a new 'un. Anyone out there got any clues? Much appreciated.

  • Hi, bought an '86 520i and am looking for a few bits and bobs, anyone know anywhere decent in the East Midlands i could try? Also, what temperature is normal for the engine to run at? My gauge stays in the middle when driving but moves inbetween hot and halfway when idling after more than ten minutes driving. Is this OK? (bit of an engine novice, sorry) Thanks for any advice.
