  • I have a 1987 U.S. 535is, 5 speed that I want to use to tow my boat with a single axle trailer. I noticed in the Euro parts diagram that there was a trailer hitch available. Does anyone have information for a stiffer rear coil spring (or spacers) to maintain the rear end height. The only discussion I have come across on the subject is at http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t...

  • Brett, What year, model, and transmission, and is it a U.S. car? Are the flat spots consistently at certain rpm's or random? Subtle or severe? Do you also get surging? How is your idle and what did your spark plugs look like when you changed them? Have you thoroughly checked for vacumn leaks and bled the air out of your cooling system? Have you checked your fuel pressure and...

  • I still have a 70 TR6 from 35 years ago. Took me awhile back then to figure out what a "bonnet" and a "spanner" were. Gene M. > BTW a 528e is called a 252e over here, & mufflers are either exhaust boxes or silencers, just so you know >

  • I just realized that this group is based out of the U.K. with right hand drive and Euro models. I am in the California, U.S.A. so all of my cars are left hand drive with all of our extra equipment for our imports, and have no knowledge of what might be different between the 2. I am sorry that I posted without realizing what the ".uk" meant. Gene M.

  • Does your clutch pedal stay down on the floor? Have you tried bleeding the air out of the system? An intermittent dead clutch pedal is not uncommon and will many times get corrected by re-bleeding the system. Here is what you are in for if you want to change the m/c. http://www.normgrills.net/bcg/Tranny_Clutch.html#anchor1066306 Also check to make sure your clutch pedal bracket has...

  • Here is my post on the Big Coupe Group on the difference and doing a swap. http://www.normgrills.net/bcg/Tranny_Clutch.html#Anchor-Transmission-49575 A lot of the mechanical systems on the E28 are the same for the E24 (electrical is different). • Douglas, You might want to look for a 535is if you are looking for the sports sedan feel. I have an 87 535is and it came equipped with front BMW sport seats, 5 speed, LSD, a special suspension set up and a rear trunk deck spoiler. Much less money than an E28 M5. I find this car to be very nimble and quick and fun to drive. I also had an 85 535 with a 5 speed and comfort seats which...
