  • Hello, I've been searching and searching and i seem to run into alot of contradictory information about the market price for a e28 528i in Australia at the moment. some places say 4-7000 and others 2-3500 now i know i bought mine for 2500 on the road..... but that was pretty cheap and i am considering putting a couple of grand into it (bushes shocks tyres etc.). its a nice car with...

  • I thought the batteries were only for the service indicator, don't forget that the heater is also a good "gauge" for determining how hot the coolant is. so you can work out whether the guage or the cooling system is faulty --- In bmwe28@^$1, Guy DiCesare wrote: > Hi guys. • sounds like a circulation problem, drain the tank and see what the coolant looks like, make sure it isn't too dirty if it is, you may have to get your system flushed. also make sure there is no oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil. avoid driving it until you know you've sorted the problem out. if the head warps cracks etc. you are in a world of pain, and overheating the engine...

  • Now i am pretty sure its a wheel bearing, I'll get it checked out when i get a service hopefully i will be able to get it under the warranty that came with the car. Thanks for your help :-) --- In bmwe28@^$1, "Robert Allan" wrote: > yeah, i noticed it when i took a trip today to get my licence > renewed its also accompanied by more vibration felt in the cabin, i > will pump my...

  • yeah, i noticed it when i took a trip today to get my licence renewed its also accompanied by more vibration felt in the cabin, i will pump my tyres up, as i checked them and the fronts were about 24 psi !!! so i was thinking of running 34 psi all round --- In bmwe28@^$1, tim hardin wrote: > wheel bearings will make niose when loaded. for example: turning left makes noise louder...

  • yeah i thought initially that it was the tyres, but then it only happens when i am turning in the left direction so i am hoping is is just the tyres, the car doesn't have any shimmy or tramlining so i am guessing that it can't be the thurst control arm (i think thats the lower control arm). i'll will have to check the tyre pressures. its just road noise really i can't really...

  • hello everyone i know this isn't an e34 forum but i figured since the front suspension is almost identical to the e28 then someone on this forum should have an idea. I just bought a 92 525i and its pretty good i just noticed that road noise dramatically increases when i the wheel left of centre, but the same thing does not happen when i turn right. I was thinking that it was a worn...

  • Glad to hear that you are enjoying your e28 i have an '82 528i and it was the best 2500 AUD i ever spent. I have don't a bit of searching around for wheels. It is a bit of a bastard to find cheap ones that are 16" and aren't the metric sort TRX. If you want good looking wheels i'd say hang out for some 16" BBS M5 mags from the e28. Are you based in the UK or the US, I am in...

  • That may mean that the circuitry that controls the idle air stabiliser (aka idle control valve) is stuffed....... i had exactly the same thing happen to me (ie disconnect no change in idle), It was really weird but i don't think its the idle control valve and i still haven't gotten to the bottom of it, mind you my car only has some slight crazy rpm action when it is hot. anyway i...

  • yeah and also before you start touching anything, with the engine turned off pump the brake pedal 20 times to bleed the hydraulic pressure out of the regulator so you won't have as much shite leaking out when you remove the fittings (i forgot to do that and it was a crimson coloured dextron bloodbath on that side of the bonnet ) --- In bmwe28@^$1, Gil Thereault wrote: > Additional...
