Group Description

Bristol Feminist Network (BFN) is a group of women and men from Bristol and the surrounding areas who are interested in discussing feminist ideas, who believe in the importance of women's liberation, and who actively campaign on issues of gender inequality and oppression.

We believe that challenging gender stereotypes, resisting sexist oppression and fighting for women’s rights can positively change the world for everyone.

BFN does not subscribe to one particular strand of feminist thought but does believe in the importance of reclaiming the word feminism from the common misrepresentations it has been subjected to within our culture.

In the last year BFN organised events in support of Women for Refugee Women, a women's film night at the Cube Cinema, a book launch & panel discussion at the Watershed and various discussion groups and workshops. We are currently involved in planning for Reclaim the Night 2013, Violence Against Women open space meeting, fundraising events and pro-choice activism.

BFN meets in a number of venues in central Bristol. Meeting are free, informal and open to all. Please feel welcome to join us!
