Group Description

This site has been organized to allow exchange of information between biological research groups on topics such as, the latest camera trap technology, survey techniques and published research.

Camera traps are an increasingly important tool for surveying mammals and other species in a wide range of environments. They are especially useful in areas with dense vegetation where species are nearly impossible to observe. They are often used in remote locations with demanding environments – areas with difficult access, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Given the high costs of deployment, the success of a survey depends on quality and robustness of camera traps themselves.

It is easy for field biologists working in isolated locations to become isolated themselves and it is hoped that through better communications, we can increase our effectiveness and the future compatibility of methods.
