Group Description

Games can help language teachers to arouse and maintain their students' interest in learning, by creating contexts in which language is useful and meaningful.

Language games can enhance the development of the four skills by making the learning experience more vivid and better remembered. By choosing motivating and appropriate games teachers will add an invaluable source of language practice, providing amusement, cooperation and communication.

This group will be devoted to analizing and adapting different digital games (online & console, etc) for inclusion into our teaching practice, as well as discussing the role that these games have or could have in language education.

We will also be exploring the virtual world Second Life, which has attracted a lot of interest recently. This part of our session is a special, optional module.

The syllabus for the 6 weeks and our course materials will be hosted here: Digital Gaming & Language Learning Wiki
