Subject: 2 women sailing round the world....

      Hi,

I wondered if you might be interested in our story....

We are 2 gay English women about to set off to sail around the world.  We are ordinary people who just decided to get out of the rat race and go live our dreams.
We are currently in New Jersey USA having new fuel tanks fitted in our boat but plan to set off by the end of October.  We are launching our round the world from here as our boat which is an Allied Wright 40 was built in New York 30 years ago.  We actually bought her in St. John (US Virgin Islands), sailed her down to Venezuela to avoid the hurricanes and then sailed her back up the Carribean island chain, through the Bahamas and across to the States to avoid this years hurricanes.

When we first left the UK in March 2006 we had intended to crew for somebody else but after 2 near disastrous attempts at finding positions we decided to bite the bullet and buy our own boat.  Prior to this, my sailing experience totalled 3 weeks but my partner Gillie Davies has been sailing for 20 years, has her RYA Yactmaster and is a cruising instructor.

So far we have sailed approximately 7,500 NM and are now preparing ourselves and the boat to sail south and be at the Panama Canal by March next year.

We are struggling to finance our dream and are hoping that some generous souls will see our potential and offer us some monetary (or other) assistance.  We would love to have you sponsor us - even in a small, minor way - as, in our position, every little helps.  If you are unable to offer us anything perhaps you know of another company or persons who may be willing to sponsor us at this time....?

      With thanks,
      Ruth Cawston and Gillie Davies.
      S/Y Tuppenny.
