There is a ball and ramp system that pulls the clutch release out that I have seen malfunction .. parts 19 , 20 , 21
Not had any signs of clutch slip. I fitted new friction plates about a year ago. I'll measure springs and see what they are like.
Only way of checking springs is to measure the free length. Should be min 40.6mm. I'd have thought spring failure would be gradual and first noticed as clutch

That does sound strange, but it does tie in - it got worse as the bike got hotter and going through traffic. Is there anyway of testing clutch springs?

Mike my friends bike done that when the engine was hot. It turned out it was the clutch springs. They were done. He got new ones and fitted them. Problem
Allen Check when you have disconnected each end of the clutch cable that the inner if free to move without binding. You might find there is nothing at all
Stock Suzuki work well but if you can get one from Motion Pro or Barnett with a Teflon liner they are less prone to binding up around bends . From:
