Good work Bob, i like the fact that players can can move up or down depending on results - encourages players to eek out the best result per game.

Strategy. The five player game was very interesting - says the only player so far to play both 4 and 5 player games. I suspect 4 player would be my preferred choice, but i would recommend 5 player.

      Lets look at the differences:

Influence tiles. You will pick 4 not 5 and (as per usual) they must be different colours. Less influence in cities so there should be no 'huge' build up unless you save influence over rounds.

Elections. These are tighter affairs, with less chance of getting even 2 cities let alone 3, Influence lost from winning can really hurt as you cannot accumulate a huge amount in a single round. Statue points are valuable.

Deploying troops. You now have only 4 turns to deploy troops. This can prove harsh if you have a few cities to defend. Players may be more likely to select the one shard influence tiles (especially when likely to be defending) to enable them to delay deployment.

Battles. We saw less VPs being awarded due to some locations deliberately not being attacked. The defender gets 2 extra influence, but not the Battle VPs. Less troops deployed means players less likely to spread troopos over multiple battles and virtually no 'deliberately' token gestures of opposition.

It would be interesting to get other player's views on this.

Awards vote.  Who has voted so far: Neil, Dave, Allan, Bob, Brian.
