  • As one of the two newbies playing on Sunday, I thought I'd throw in my impressions of and thoughts on the game. Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot. I got off to a dreadful start, putting all my eggs in two baskets (is that a new figure of speech?) - namely the German States and the Caribbean. This was based mainly on my starting position, but I really should have spread myself more...

  • Did anyone go to this? I think George said he was going. Did you have a good time? Good atmosphere? Try any new games? Let us know how you got on......

  • My daughter is 17 months old, and I'm counting the weeks until she's able to play the simplest of games and I can start her indoctrination, sorry introduction, to boardgames. I reckon about 3 years or so would be about right. Any other mothers or fathers at LBGC with experience in this matter? There's a fairly comprehensive BGG meta list of games for kids of all ages available here...

  • 1 Puerto Rico – Played. I think it's fine, but don't quite understand what all the fuss is about. 2 Tigris & Euphrates – Played. I like this one a lot. A real brain burner. 3 Power Grid – NOT PLAYED. Looks good to me, though. 4 Caylus – NOT PLAYED. But I do own a copy of it. 5 Twilight Struggle – NOT PLAYED. This is number 1 on my wish list at the moment. I actually went to...

I actually visit the site more than I have been able to attend club meetings over the last couple of months, which is a bit depressing. Over the last couple of months,I have had a succession of weekends booked up with family, in-laws, holidays and work (I have to work the occasional...

  • I've been playing Combat Commander: Europe a lot recently, and I feel that Tide of Iron doesn't look as good. I also tend to shy away to a certain extent from games with loads of plastic toys - I prefer tokens or wooden blocks as a rule. Having said that, I'd love to have a game if anyone gets it when it comes out. --- In lbgc@^$1, "Neil Parker" wrote: > > Anyone else looking...

  • Knowing how popular Apocalypse is in LBGC, I thought I would let anybody who is interested know that there is currently a copy on ebay. The link is here .

  • While I'm asking if anyone has played I game I haven't played before, I'm interested to find out if anyone else has played a game I've been playing a lot of recently - Combat Commander: Europe . I know George has it and thinks very highly of it, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had a go yet. I've jotted down a couple of my impressions of the game so far, but have...

  • Has anyone played Die Macher ? I keep coming acroos it on the 'Geek, and I see that it was reprinted last year by Valley Games (who are also reprinting Hannibal Rome vs Carthage). I don't know anything about it other than what's on BoardGameGeek, but I'm intrigued. Has it been played at LBGC before? Does anyone own it? What's it like? Is it good? What's your personal record for...
