Group Description

Welcome to the London Birders Yahoo Group.

The London recording area, as defined by the London Natural History Society, is 20 miles in every direction centred on St. Paul's Cathedral in the Inner London sector.

The official list for this area currently stands at 364 species (not yet including White-tailed Lapwing and Slaty-backed Gull at Rainham Marshes and Dusky Warbler at Walthamstow Reservoirs which are pending rarities committee acceptance); for the definitive list of birds recorded in the London Area and London's premier county listers (those that have seen 200 or more species) visit the London Birders Wiki website (see links).

The aim of this group is to provide a forum for London based birders (or transient visitors) to post sightings, exchange the latest bird / site news, request information, or just engage in general on-topic chat. Though primarily bird-orientated, occasional posts relating to other London wildlife are welcomed.

The group moderators reserve the right to delete posts regarding sensitive breeding species etc. First posts from new members are moderated to avoid spamming.
