  • Hello Oliver As a n ex Privateer owner I am always on the lookout for Privateers. Image my surprise last Friday Evening when I saw one on a Marina in A Coruna, Galicia, North West Spain. I was coming alongside and adjoining Marina at the time so I did not have the opportunity to photograph her. She had a black hull and the owner had added a porthole forward of the cabin window...

  • Hi Tony The other Tony summed up what to look for. I am an ex Privateer owner. If things don't work out with that one I believe the people who bought my boat in 2014 wish to sell it due to lack of use. The boat is in West Cork. You can let me know if interested Sean Norris Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Wed, 23 Nov, 2016 at 21:48, Tony Glover tonytheskipper@^$1 [privateer20...

  • Hi Tony Welcome to the ownership of a Privateer, I went the other direction to you in that I went from owning one to now being a part owner of a Sadder 32. However I had 12 very happy years with my Privateer. On the two questions you asked. As regards raising and lowering the last I had an aluminium last and was a birthday rig with a pivot pin on the tabernacle so it was only a...

  • Having had my boat (Lady Irene) laid up for the last 3 years due to family commitments. However, I got her in the water this year and despite the terrible summer we got out for some family days. However a disaster has struck at the end of the season, the main boom has dissappeared off the boat and an extensive search of the boatyard and its environments has not yeilded any joy so I...

  • hi all I have a 6 hp tohatsu on my one which came with the boat. As I have my boat in a relatively light trim my own view is that it is too big as the boat seems to reach max speed at just over half trottle. If I had too replace the engine I wo uld probably get a 4hp. Sean --- In privateer20@^$1, "chris" wrote: > > > > --- In privateer20@^$2, "marksrv6" wrote: > > > > > > Thanks...

  • I replaced my sails three years ago and when advising the sail maker of my sail habits this is what I told him. -Up to 10 knots full sail. -10 to 15 Knots if I am felling energetic both Jibs and a deep reefed (double reefed main) of if lazy just the the two jibs. -15 to 19 knots the two jibs only -@20 knots the boat either stays on the mooring or I use the engine (my preference is...

  • Hello everyone, I just found this group in the last few days. I am based out of Schull in Co Cork Southern Ireland. I have had my Privateer since 2002. Mine was called "Jacks and Micks" apparently after the father and father in law of a previous owner. I could not keep that name and she is now Lady Irene! I have an interesting and varied sailing ground with a mix of sheltered...
