Group Description

A group to enable researchers to share Family, Social and Local History information relevat to the SOMERTON Hundred.

What can you bring to this group? If you only seek to further your own research, this group is not for you. It is for those who are prepared to give, freely and unconditionally, and not necessarily receive in return.

From British History Online In 1569 the administrative hundred was made up of the borough of Somerton and the tithings of Long Sutton, West Camel, East Lydford, Littleton, Yeovilton, Aller, Hurcot, Somerton Erleigh, Charlton, and Kingsdon. To these Pitney Plucknett (or Pitney Wearne) had been added by 1582.

Somerset Family History serves as a central entry point for the 40 Somerset Hundreds and will receive announcements of all file uploads to the 40 Hundreds
